184. Israeli 600 SR

Hello,

SR, or Super Randonnee, is a category of challenging rides originally organized by the ACP. (Hebrew)
Since 2022, 600 SR's are organized by Provence Randonneurs.
These are permanent rides to a distance of 600 km, with at least 10,000 meters total elevation gain.
This is a 'Live Post' that us updated regularly.

Since 2009, the ACP has introduced a new kind of challenging rides.

The time limit for these rides is 50 hours, with additional hours if the total elevation gain is more than 10,000 meters 60 hours.
It is possible to ride as a Tourist, with a minimum of 80 km per day.

The one who came up with the idea, and is the organizer for the ACP is Sophie Matter.

All the rules for an SR apply as-is.

The rules are similar to the regular brevet rules, with a few changes which should be observed:

*) Like a regular brevet, the rider needs to provide proof of passage in controls.
Unlike a regular brevet, there are no opening and closing times of controls.
It is only necessary to keep the total time limit.

*) No support vehicle is allowed, not even in controls.

*) The total time limit is relative to the total elevation gain.
Every 500 meters above 10,000 "give" another hour to the total time limit.
So, for example, a route with 12,000 meters means the total time limit is 54 hours.
The total time limit is 60 hours.

*) A rider that finished beyond the time limit will be recognized as a Tourist.

Since 2015, an SR route in Israel was recognized by the ACP.
A few details about the Israel SR route:

It is in northern Israel, and is mostly an out-and-back route.
The start and finish location is Rosh HaNikra.

The route has 12,000 meters elevation gain, so the time limit is 54 hours and the time limit is 60 hours.
This might change, once we receive a few gps recordings of actual rides (as of writing these words, there's already one recording.)

All the controls are picture controls.

The start hour and day of week is determined by the rider, but it is recommended to start on a weekday morning, and finish around noon.
Meaning: Start either Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday, and finish on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, respectively.

Some notable climbs along the route:
Mevo Hama, From Kursi Junction to Afik Junction, Gamla, Biria Forest, From Tel Hai to Misgav Am, Adamit, Hanita, Mount Meron, From Gonen to Merom Golan, and a lot more...

The route is on roads that are open all year round, in all hours of the day.

The relevant files can be obtained from me.
MY contact details appear in the list of SR rides around the world.

Registration fees after a successful finish are identical to the fees of a regular brevet at the time of the ride.

Good luck!
